Flashes of Lightning: What's It About?

Fithian Press published Flashes of Lightning in 2016 and nominated it for a Pushcart Prize. Twenty of FOL's stories had previously been published in print or online. The 52 brief stories (each 101 words or fewer) will touch your funny bone, heart, mystery-solving mind or, perhaps, your dark side. The stories focus on love, death, coincidence, myth and addiction. FOL is a work of fiction, but 25% of the stories are based on Neil's experiences. North Coast artist Laura Zerzan created 14 whimsical, spot-on pieces, including the front cover. "Laura's illustrations set Flashes of Lightning apart from other books of poetry or short fiction," Neil told an interviewer.
